Description:
Abstract:
The dataset contains management areas on the Green Mountain National Forest (GMNF) that have similiar management objectives. This dataset displays the most restrictive management constraints on the land where there may be overlapping uses allowed. All current Wilderness Areas are included here, for National Recreation Areas you must refer to the NRA dataset.
Purpose:
The Management Area dataset guides all natural resource management activites on the GMNF.
Supplemental_Information:
Refer to the GMNF's Land and Resource Management Plan, Chapter 3, for details on each management areas direction, standards, and guidelines. Chapter 2 for Forest-wide management direction.
This dataset has been topologically corrected and verified with the 'gmnf' SDE feature class which was created from ALP in 2006. This dataset incorporates the New England Wilderness Act of 2006 new Wilderness areas. The Lye Brook Wilderness has been adjusted on the northeast corner to allow for a pre-existing trail. There are two National Recreation Areas on the forest, a portion of one, the Robert T. Stafford White Rocks NRA is incorporated into this dataset. The actual boundary of the NRA overlaps with adjacent Wilderness areas, and for the purpose of land management, the Wilderness standards and guidelines take precedence over any other use. There is a separate dataset for the National Recreation Areas, refer to this for the full extent of the NRAs on the GMNF.
