This data set was developed to improve the accuracy of VELCO's plan and profile drawings.

The VELCOTRANS data layer conatins all of the constructed high voltage transmission lines in Vermont. Not all lines are operated at their constructed voltage.

A variety of methods and sources were used to create the VELCOTRANS data layer. The majority of the transmission lines were digitized from RF5000 scale digital orthophotography (from the VT Mapping Program).

VCGI reviewed data provided by VELCO and determined that it could not be used to update UtilityTransmit_ELTRN. VCGI converted shapefile to ArcInfo coverage and renamed it from XMITLINE to VELCOTRANS. VCGI reworked HTML metadata provided by VELCO into a fully FGDC compliant ascii file.
