Abstract:

This data layer includes Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT) data collected by the Vermont Agency of Transporation for 2012. The dataset includes AADT data for Interstate, US, VT highways. It also includes Federal Urban Area (FUA) routes and Major Collectors (MC). The data was "ported" to GIS format via a GIS Linear Reference data layer called TransRoad_LRS2011 (refer to metadata).

Provide Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT) data for Vermont's roads.

According to VTrans, the following methodology was used to calculate AADT volumes for each road segment depicted in VTrans's Route Logs. 1) An actual count, if one was available for the particular road segment. 2) If an HPMS section is located in the vicinity, the growth rate from it was applied to the segment. 3) If a coverage count was taken in a nearby setion, the growth rate for that segment was applied to the section. 4) If no counts were taken in the vicinity, the statewide average growth rate for the appropriate class of road was applied.
